Pancreatic pseudocyst

A pseudocyst is the most common cystic lesion of the pancreas.

It is a common result of acute or chronic pancreatitis.

A pseudocyst is a walled off (encapsulated) collection of pancreatic juices, that have collected.

It is considered to be a result of the pancreatic duct being damaged from an episode of pancreatitis which then results in pancreatic juices leaking into tissue and causing hemorrhagic fat necrosis.

The cysts can grow quite large (over 10cm).
