Absent or not visible ovaries could be due to a few different conditions:- As females age and progress through menopause the ovaries shrink and become hard to visualize.
In a postmenopausal woman this non-visualization of the ovary is common as the ovaries shrink to the size of a raisin.
- A congenital malformation where the ovary and fallopian tube never developed, this a rare condition.
- The ovary or ovaries were surgically removed.
