About this Condition

Iron deposition, (which leads to iron overload, or hemochromatosis) is a condition in which the liver accumulates and stores a higher than normal amount of iron.

The most common causes are hereditary hemochromatosis, and transfusional iron overload from repeated blood transfusions.

The heart (not assessed on this TrueScan scan) can also be affected by this condition.
