About this Condition

Hemorrhagic cysts are abnormal lesions of the neck which have had an episode of bleeding (hemorrhage) within the lesion.

This is a finding that is often associated with the thyroid, but can occur in other soft tissues of the neck, particularly if there has been trauma or an infection.

This is why a good medical history is important.

When the hemorrhage occurs, it is often associated with an immediate onset of pain and other symptoms.
