About this Condition

Granulomas can occur in the mastoid air cells as well as the middle ear.

They are a nodular inflammatory lesion which is formed from granulation tissue.

On some occasions granulomas can progress to bleeding and are a common cause for bleeding into the eardrum seen by otoscopy (looking in the ear).
