Cholecystitis

Cholecystitis is inflammation of the gallbladder.

90% of cases are due to a gallstone blocking the gallbladder at the cystic duct.

A “gallbladder attack” usually precedes cholecystitis.

Gallbladder attack refers to blocked flow of bile which leads to accumulation and bile stasis in the gallbladder which can lead to gallbladder inflammation and then infection.
