Biliary cystadenocarcinoma

Biliary cystadenocarcinomas are when the benign biliary cysts in the liver transform into a malignant condition.

Imaging and other routine tests are unable to tell when this occurs, particularly if no baseline imaging study of the liver is available.

Biliary cysts arise from cells in the bile ducts.
