About this Condition

An arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is an abnormal collection of arteries and veins in the brain.

Instead of having a capillary bed in between the artery and the vein, an AVM is a direct connection between arteries and veins.

Small vascular malformations will not be identified on a TrueScan scan, as the most sensitive sequence for tiny blood vessel imaging is not performed due to the length of time required for that type of imaging.
